Gearing Up Solo Style

18 more days. 18 more stay at home days until I’m off to Beantown and the Windy City; Boston and Chicago.

I’m used to travelling between my home city of Glasgow and London for work, but this is different. It will be my first time flying solo across the big pond that is the Atlantic Ocean, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m used to family holidays or ‘bagging’ European Capital Cities as part of educational trips with the youth organisation I volunteer with. However this is a step up to venture out on my own and put my own stamp on the world.

Part of the reason, I started this blog was to do just that. Impart a bit of myself everywhere I go and share that journey with people. Granted it may take years, or decades, to truly put my stamp on the world but the first step is here …..

….. Flying on my own to two places I want to visit before I elegantly kick the bucket.

This means getting prepped. And I mean getting prepped to the max.

All the essentials are done as what you would expect. Sleeping arrangements, transfers, restaurant reservations and a wine tasting are sorted. It’s just everything else. Packing the suitcase, sorting the toiletries, getting pre-paid bills in order …. the list is endless. So what do I do?

Well, a dear friend once said to me that the best thing to do is relax, breathe, and sort out your travel playlist. Wait ……….. Travel Playlist?

To be fair I didn’t think that much of it at the time but it does make sense. Because music makes you feel empowered. And to quote two of my favourite song of all time there definitely is “somewhere beyond the sea” so that I can “do it my way”.

I’m currently planning out my Travel Playlist but there’s always room for improvement. If you’ve got any ideas, let me know. Other than that it’s the back to the boring stuff. Getting the right clothes packed and putting everything in order before I hit the road for a week I’ll never forget.
